Here's one for ya.

As I was sitting in church Wednesday night waiting for the service to start Matt and I wondered... at what point are you officially late for church? Is it when the preachers first walk out or is it when the first special starts? You tell me.

As someone who plays preludes on a semi-regular basis, I think that you are late for church if you walk in while the prelude is in any way going on. Even if you are coming in just as the person is standing up to start, you are still late. Why? Because it is INCREDIBLY distracting to always see people walking in out of the corner of your eye. Most of the time I am able to block it out, but there has been at least one or two times where I have actually lost my spot in the music because I glanced up to see what all the commotion was.

If you walk in while the ministers are coming out, you are not late, but not early by any means. That just means that you narrowly avoided being late. I think 5 minutes before is a safe period of time.

Well Melina, I think you pretty much covered that topic from top to bottom. Thanks.

Apperently quite a bit. LOL! But I would have to agree with you on this one 'cause I was saying that you would be late as soon as that first note is played, wheather it be by the piano or by the person who's special it is.

Still a tough case though with walking in as the preachers are walking out or praying.

Definately agreeing with Zach on this one. Although I may have just been convinced of it because I listened to their arguement on Wednesday night.

And even though I do not consider you to be late if you walk in while the ministers are walking in or praying, it definately feels that way when everyone else is sitting down, watching the person walking in.

Oh, and have you noticed you always seem to be the one that comes up with the questions to ponder? Awhile back you asked us if we'd rather be deaf or blind, if my memory serves correctly. You really enjoy making us ponder things, don't you. :P

I have to agree w/ Melina. In Tacoma we have a family(who shall remain nameless) who always seems to show up just a little late for the service. There will be this little red-head girl skipping down the aisle w/ a little blond boy stomping after her and a 1 year-old racing to the front of the church while the mom w/ a 3 month old baby in one arm chases after her. Of course, despite being distracting, they are also very amusing especially if the little boy, who is potty-training, just came from the bathroom and still has his underwear and pants around his ankles! Yes, this just happened last week ;)
